In Cappadocia’s history stretching back thousands of years, many states have dominated the region. The Hidden church in G\u00f6reme is one of the structures thought to have been built in the 2nd half of the 11th century. Due to the landslides experienced in the intervening thousands of years, the church was covered. It was discovered by chance during the excavations in G\u00f6reme and therefore it was named the hidden church.
When you look at the architecture of the Hidden church<\/a>, you can realize that it is one of the important examples of Mesopotamian architecture. Like many churches built in this period, it has a rectangular plan. It basically consists of two columns. There are 3 different arches between these columns.

In the church where Jesus motifs are intensely used, techniques that are rarely used were used. One of the important features of the church is to paint the motifs using cloth instead of a brush.

Sakl\u0131 Church is one of the lesser known churches of Cappadocia. Usually not included in tour plans. The biggest reason for this is that it is not possible to visit the inside, so it does not attract enough attention of tourists.
